Serenity HospiceCare Provides Award-Winning Children’s Grief Support Through Carter’s Clubhouse

Park Hills, MO – When a child experiences the loss of a loved one, the impact can be deeply emotional and sometimes difficult to express. Serenity HospiceCare offers specialized support through its award-winning Children’s Grief Support Group, Carter’s Clubhouse.

Founded in 2008, Carter’s Clubhouse was created after Serenity HospiceCare recognized that few local resources were available specifically for grieving children. The program was designed to help children understand and process the painful feelings that surround the loss of a loved one in a safe, supportive environment.

Children often grieve differently than adults. Research indicates that children who experience the death of a sibling or close family member may exhibit higher levels of behavioral challenges and lower social competence compared to children who have not experienced such loss. Early, structured support can make a meaningful difference in helping children navigate those emotions in healthy ways.

Carter’s Clubhouse provides compassionate guidance, age-appropriate activities, and peer support to help children and families cope with grief while building resilience and emotional understanding.
