National Library Workers Day & National Library Week

Today, as we celebrate National Library Workers Day during National Library Week, the City of Park Hills proudly recognizes the incredible staff at the Park Hills Public Library (pictured left to right), Lisa Sisk - Library Director, Christal Nelson-Reeves, and Roseanne Hulsey. These dedicated individuals work tirelessly to provide our community with access to books, technology, educational programs, and a welcoming space for all. Their passion and commitment make our library a vital resource for learning, connection, and growth.

Our library is more than just a facility—it’s a lifeline for many in our community. Whether it’s helping job seekers, offering homework help for students, or providing genealogy tools, the Park Hills Public Library serves as a hub of opportunity. However, this lifeline is under threat. Federal funding cuts to programs managed by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) have jeopardized grants that support essential upgrades and services. Libraries nationwide are facing challenges, and ours is no exception.

One urgent need at our library is new computers. The current computers were purchased in 2017, and one has already stopped working entirely. These computers are used by patrons all day, every day—for job applications, research, online learning, and more. Without reliable technology, many in our community would lose access to critical resources. Upgrading these computers is not just a want—it’s a necessity.

Now more than ever, we need your support to ensure our library continues to thrive. Here’s how you can help:

  • Advocate: Contact federal representatives to emphasize the importance of funding libraries through agencies like IMLS.

  • Donate: Financial contributions can directly support technology upgrades like new computers.

  • Volunteer: Assist with library programs or events to strengthen community engagement.

  • Celebrate: Share your appreciation for library workers online using #NLWD25.

Let’s come together as a community to champion our library and its incredible team. Visit us at 16 S. Coffman St., Park Hills, or explore our online resources at www.parkhillspl.lib.mo.us. Together, we can ensure that the Park Hills Public Library remains a beacon of knowledge and opportunity for generations to come!
