We’d like to share a couple of opportunities to encourage you & others to increase your physical activity during the summer months & learn more about your community & local park.
Please join us at 8:00 AM on July 21st at Owl Creek Park and take part in the St. Francois County Community Walk, hosted by the University of Missouri Extension as part of the statewide 100 Miles, 100 Days initiative.
The community walk will feature MU Extension’s Katie Kammler, field specialist in horticulture, guiding participants in identifying local plants. It’s a great chance to get outside, learn about native plants in Missouri, meet others who are participating in the challenge, and explore local trails. Whether you’ve been logging miles from the beginning or you’re just getting started, everyone is welcome.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate attire, and don’t forget to bring cold water to stay hydrated. Participants can pick up helpful tips to support their health goals and stay motivated throughout the challenge.

MU Extension is hosting a statewide initiative called 100 Miles, 100 Days which is a no-cost movement program that helps to motivate you to increase your physical activity throughout the 100 days of summer.
Starting June 16th, start moving in whatever way you enjoy:
- biking
- dancing
- even strength training!
