As the new year begins, CASA of the Parkland is inviting community members to make a meaningful difference in the life of a child by becoming a trained CASA volunteer.
CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, is a nationally recognized program that provides trained volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect and are involved in the foster care system. CASA volunteers serve as a consistent, caring adult presence for children during what is often one of the most difficult periods of their lives.
Volunteers work closely with children, families, caseworkers, and the court system to ensure a child’s voice is heard and their needs are understood. CASA advocates gather information, build relationships, and make recommendations to judges focused solely on what is in the child’s best interest. Research has shown that children with CASA volunteers are more likely to find safe, permanent homes and experience greater stability while in care.
CASA of the Parkland serves children across the local region and relies on dedicated volunteers from the community to fulfill its mission. No legal background is required. All volunteers receive comprehensive training and ongoing support to prepare them for their role.
Individuals interested in becoming a CASA volunteer can apply online and learn more about the upcoming training sessions by visiting: https://www.casaoftheparkland.org/volunteer
By becoming a CASA volunteer, community members have the opportunity to help change the trajectory of a child’s life, one case and one relationship at a time.
