Southeast Missouri Family Violence Council is a nonprofit organization providing free, confidential assistance to survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, and teen dating violence. The organization helps individuals and families find safety, break the cycle of abuse, and regain control of their lives.

Services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, crisis intervention, safety planning, case management, counseling, support groups, court advocacy, assistance with orders of protection, transportation, housing assistance, and referrals to community resources. Services are available to women, men, teens, older adults, individuals, and families affected by violence or abuse.

Children and families can receive specialized assistance, including age-appropriate safety planning, youth counseling, parenting support, school coordination, and childcare during certain programs. Advocates may also provide medical accompaniment, legal-system support, employment assistance, goal planning, and help connecting survivors with long-term housing and other essential resources.

Individuals do not have to stay in the shelter to receive help. The organization’s outreach program provides advocacy, education, resources, and support for survivors who need assistance while remaining in the community. Support groups also offer survivors a safe environment in which to connect, share experiences, and receive encouragement.

Southeast Missouri Family Violence Council works to reduce domestic and sexual violence throughout the region through prevention programs, educational workshops, community presentations, and public awareness. Its service area includes St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Iron, Madison, and Washington counties.

The confidential crisis hotline is answered 24 hours a day by trained advocates. Anyone experiencing immediate danger should call 911.
