MU Extension is offering a Home Food Preservation Bootcamp that will feature the latest research and methods for water bath, steam, and pressure canning. This hands-on workshop will also include a hands-on demonstration of steam canning and pressure canning and each participant will take home a jar of their own.
“In addition to basic procedures and steps to safe canning, we will share solutions to common canning problems and answer the most frequently asked questions,” explains Bethany Bachmann, University of Missouri Extension Specialist. A packet of USDA recommended procedures and recipes will be provided to each participant.
This program will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Cape Girardeau County Extension Office, 684 Jackson Trail, Jackson, MO 63755. The day begins at 9:15 a.m. and will conclude at 4 p.m. Participants will have time to eat lunch on their own from 12:00p.m. – 1:00 p.m. The registration deadline is July 7. Cost of the Bootcamp is $45 per participant.
