The Park Hills-Leadington Chamber of Commerce proudly joined community leaders, residents, and fellow chambers in celebrating the grand opening of Owl Creek Park, St. Francois County’s first public park, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on May 21, 2025.
Located at 198 Landfill Road in Park Hills, Owl Creek Park marks a significant milestone in the county’s commitment to enhancing outdoor recreational spaces. The park's Phase 1 development includes 1.25 miles of asphalt trails, over 3 miles of cleared wilderness trails, and access to the Big River, offering diverse opportunities for walking, biking, fishing, and nature exploration.
The ceremony featured remarks from St. Francois County Commissioners Kary Buckley and David Kater, who expressed gratitude to all individuals and organizations involved in bringing the project to fruition. Commissioner Kater highlighted future plans for the park, including additional amenities such as a playground and a concrete boat ramp.
The Park Hills-Leadington Chamber extends heartfelt congratulations to St. Francois County on this achievement and expresses sincere appreciation to the Desloge, Bonne Terre, and Farmington Chambers of Commerce for their participation in this collaborative celebration.
Owl Creek Park is now open daily from daylight until dark, inviting community members and visitors to enjoy its natural beauty and recreational offerings. For more information about the park, please contact the St. Francois County Parks Department at msumpter@sfcgov.org or visit www.sfcgov.org.
