Mineral Area College Earns FOA Approved School Designation

Park Hills, MO  – Mineral Area College (MAC) is proud to announce it has been designated an FOA Approved School by The Fiber Optic Association (FOA), a leading nonprofit organization setting industry standards for fiber optics training and certification.

This designation positions MAC as one of only five FOA-approved schools in the state of Missouri, offering students exceptional educational opportunities in fiber optics technology.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by The Fiber Optic Association for the quality of our fiber optics training program,” said Dr. Keith Zoromski, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Mineral Area College. “This designation demonstrates our commitment to providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in this growing career field."

The FOA Approved School designation signifies that MAC’s new fiber optics training program meets the rigorous standards established by the FOA. The one-semester Fiber Optic Fundamentals Certificate equips students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary for a successful career in fiber optics, including fiber optic basics, OSHA 10 safety training, understanding fiber optic networks and components, mastering installation and testing techniques, learning about various fiber cable types, and gaining a comprehensive understanding of structured cabling and its applications.

The four-credit hour Fiber Optic Fundamentals class will be held in a hybrid format, with most of the work completed online and one in-person class meeting per week. Enrollment is open now for the spring semester.
