The Park Hills - Leadington Chamber of Commerce hosted its June Investor Connect Luncheon on Tuesday, June 16, bringing together Chamber investors, business leaders, community stakeholders, and local partners for an informative discussion focused on one of the most significant workforce challenges facing communities today: childcare accessibility and affordability.
The program featured a presentation by Kimberly Weakley, Assistant Statewide Coordinator for Missouri Childhood Community Leaders, who provided attendees with valuable insight into the Child Care Works Program and the broader impact childcare availability has on workforce participation, employee retention, economic development, and community sustainability. Weakley shared data, resources, and strategies designed to help communities better understand and address childcare-related challenges while supporting working families and local employers.
As part of the luncheon, attendees participated in an interactive activity titled The Price Is Right: Childcare Edition, which encouraged participants to estimate the actual costs associated with childcare services. The activity served as a practical demonstration of the financial realities many families face and generated meaningful discussion regarding the role businesses, community organizations, and local leaders can play in supporting childcare solutions.
The Chamber extends its sincere appreciation to Kimberly Weakley for sharing her expertise and facilitating an engaging and educational program. The Chamber also thanks Hub’s Pub & Grill for providing lunch for attendees and Mineral Area College for hosting the event and providing an excellent venue for the luncheon.
Investor Connect luncheons are designed to provide Chamber investors with opportunities to learn about important issues affecting the business community, connect with fellow professionals, and engage in conversations that support regional growth and development. The June program highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to strengthen workforce infrastructure and ensure families have access to quality childcare resources.
The Park Hills - Leadington Chamber of Commerce thanks all attendees for their participation and continued commitment to building a stronger business community throughout the region.
