Parkland Health Center Celebrates Major Clinic Expansion with Joint Chamber Ribbon Cutting

Renovations add 10 examination rooms, two procedure rooms, specialized equipment, and additional physicians to expand women's and children's healthcare services.

Parkland Health Center celebrated an exciting milestone in regional healthcare on Thursday, October 29, as representatives from four area Chambers of Commerce joined hospital leadership, physicians, staff, and community supporters for a ribbon-cutting ceremony recognizing the completion of extensive renovations at Parkland Health Center Medical Clinic.

The joint celebration brought together the Park Hills–Leadington Chamber of Commerce, Farmington Regional Chamber of Commerce, Bonne Terre Chamber of Commerce, and Desloge Chamber of Commerce to recognize an important investment in expanding access to quality healthcare for women, children, and families throughout the region.

A Major Investment in Patient Care

The extensive renovation was designed to accommodate additional healthcare providers while improving patient access, efficiency, and the overall patient experience.

The expanded clinic now features 43 examination rooms, including 10 newly added rooms, along with two new procedure rooms.

Additional improvements include a dedicated non-stress test (NST) monitoring area capable of accommodating three expectant mothers simultaneously. This specialized space allows healthcare professionals to monitor fetal well-being while providing a more comfortable and efficient experience for patients.

The clinic has also added a colposcopy machine, enhancing its diagnostic capabilities and supporting expanded women's healthcare services.

During the ceremony, Parkland Health Center President Annette Schnable emphasized the hospital's ongoing commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of the region.

"We are very excited to continue to expand the services that we are providing to our community," Schnable said.

She noted that Parkland has undertaken numerous improvement projects over the past several years, reflecting the organization's continued investment in expanding services and strengthening healthcare throughout the community.

Welcoming New Physicians

A primary motivation behind the renovation was the need to accommodate Parkland Health Center's growing team of healthcare professionals.

Among the newest additions are:

  • Madelyn Dulin, MD, Pediatrics
  • Kayla Harshman, MD, Pediatrics
  • Lauren Ostler, MD, Obstetrics and Gynecology

Dr. Ostler joined Parkland in September 2026, further expanding the availability of specialized women's healthcare services.

All three physicians are accepting new patients at Parkland Health Center Medical Clinic, located at 1103 West Liberty Street in Farmington.

The expanded facilities will allow these physicians and other healthcare professionals to serve additional patients while improving the efficiency and accessibility of care.

Improvements Designed with Patients in Mind

Beyond creating space for additional providers, the renovation focused on making healthcare visits more convenient and comfortable.

John Cooper, MD, an OB/GYN who has served Parkland patients for approximately seven years, expressed appreciation for the improvements and the individuals who helped make the project possible.

Cooper highlighted the enhanced appearance of the clinic, improved patient access, and the potential for shorter waiting times as important benefits of the renovation.

"I really think this could be great for our community," Cooper said.

The new NST monitoring area also provides additional capacity for monitoring expectant mothers, helping streamline a process that can require patients to remain under observation for extended periods.

Months of Planning and Teamwork

The renovation required several months of planning, coordination, and construction, all while the clinic continued providing care to patients.

Hospital leadership recognized the patience and dedication of physicians, nurses, staff, and project coordinators who worked together to minimize disruptions throughout the process.

Schnable also acknowledged Chris Winchell, Vice President of Operations, for her leadership in overseeing Parkland's numerous improvement projects.

The expansion was made possible through shared funding between Parkland Health Center and its foundation.

Hospital officials expressed appreciation for the foundation's contributions and the community members whose support helps make continued improvements possible.

Four Chambers Celebrate Regional Healthcare Growth

The participation of four area Chambers of Commerce reflected the regional significance of the expansion and the importance of continued investment in healthcare infrastructure.

The renovated clinic represents more than an updated facility. It demonstrates Parkland Health Center's commitment to bringing additional medical professionals, expanded services, and improved healthcare access to the communities it serves.

With new physicians, enhanced facilities, and additional specialized equipment, Parkland Health Center is positioned to continue meeting the growing healthcare needs of families throughout St. Francois County and the surrounding region.
