St. Francois County Ambulance District provides professional emergency medical services, prehospital patient care, community healthcare support, and lifesaving education throughout St. Francois County. Its trained emergency medical technicians, paramedics, dispatchers, supervisors, educators, and support personnel are committed to delivering prompt, compassionate, and clinically advanced care when residents need it most.

The district responds to emergency medical calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Emergency personnel evaluate patients, provide treatment at the scene, coordinate with other first responders and healthcare providers, and transport patients to appropriate medical facilities when necessary. In the event of an emergency, always call 911.

Beyond emergency response, the district operates an innovative Mobile Integrated Healthcare Network, also known as community paramedicine. The program brings specially trained community paramedics, registered nurses, and community health workers into patients’ homes to help bridge gaps between emergency services, primary care, home health, and other community resources.

Mobile Integrated Healthcare services may include chronic disease management, in-home diagnostics, safety assessments, medication assistance, telehealth appointments, care coordination, post-hospitalization follow-up, preventive care, behavioral health support, substance-use support, and connections to community resources. The program is designed to help residents manage their health, avoid unnecessary hospital visits, and remain safely independent at home.

The district also supports children with special healthcare needs through its STARS program and provides public education through its American Heart Association Authorized Training Center. Educational opportunities include CPR, AED, First Aid, Basic Life Support, advanced healthcare-provider courses, and EMT training. Courses use modern simulation equipment and hands-on instruction to help healthcare professionals and community members build confidence in responding to emergencies.
