What We Are About
Pickin’ On Music Festivals strives to bring the best regional and national touring Bluegrass, Folk, Roots, and Americana artists to unique venues along Missouri’s scenic riverways. We have held events on the Courtois, Huzzah, Mississippi and Meramec rivers. Artist-led workshops and all night campfire jams are a distinguishing feature of Pickin’ On events. We love giving our artists and attendees a memorable experience.
Who Should Attend?
Pickin’ On Music Festivals specializes in family-friendly music festivals for diverse audiences who love Bluegrass, Folk, Roots, and Americana music. We feature many types of bluegrass styles ranging from traditional bluegrass, newgrass, jamgrass, progressive bluegrass, good ole’ fashion Sunday morning gospel grass and more. Fans of diverse bluegrass styles, as well as bluegrass pickers, have a great time at our events.
Our festivals feature a late night Pickin’ On Jam Fire that kicks off once the last act has finished entertaining us with their hot pickin’ and singing! We ignite a retired instrument to ceremoniously kick off the Pickin’ On Jam Fire. It’s a common occurrence for our Pickin’ On Jam Fire to have pickin’ going until sunrise and longer. You can also find many daytime jams across the festival grounds. So always plan to bring your instrument to pick with old and new friends alike.
Workshops are always a hit at our festivals. We have everything from exclusive instrument workshops with Pickin’ On artists, to moonshine distilling, to beekeeping, kids workshops and more! So if you are looking to learn some new runs, refine some existing ones, or work on numerous other skills, keep an eye out at our information kiosks and sign up information at our events this season.
