Contemporary Christian lovers will wrap up the series with the sounds of "Leaving 99" from 6-7:30 p.m. The St. Francois County based band features praise and worship based Christian rock.
About Leaving 99...
During the winter of 2008 Derick Mickan was asked to play a Winter Warm-up Youth Rally for the Mineral Area Baptist Association. Derick contacted Dave Barnes and invited him to play bass who then suggested inviting Jeff Barnes to add vocals and acoustic guitar and Lindy LaChance to play drums. Leading worship for the rally was a blast and the four decided to seek future opportunities to lead worship. Leaving 99 was born.
At Bates Creek Camp in the summer of 2008, Gabe Lindsey joined the line-up to take over the bass and Dave moved to guitar. Then during the Fall of 2010 during Revival at New Life Fellowship, Steve Mowery joined the band playing keyboards. In the spring of 2012 Casey Williams filled in for Jeff at a booking in Illinios and was asked to join the band shortly after. Steve reluctantly left the band in the summer of 2012 citing time constraints and in the fall of that same year Jeff and Lindy did likewise for much the same reasons.
In the fall of 2012, Matt Franklin joined the group as drummer. In late December 2012, founding member Derick Mickan was called to Calvary Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma to become thier worship pastor.
In February 2013, Matthew Sherrill became the newest member of Leaving 99 as rhythm guitarist.
We are so thankful for all members of Leaving 99, past and present. God has called us all to serve. Sometimes the call has brought new people into the band and at other times, it has led members to do His work elsewhere. We feel blessed that we are able to go and worship with so many churches and we have made so many new friends in the process. Our goal is to worship Him no matter where we are and to have Christ as our only focus. He is the only one worthy of our praise and is the reason we sing.
