Mineral Area College’s Little Theatre Guild is getting ready to perform “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” winner of the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Book.

“25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is said to have charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching script by Rachel Sheinkin and a truly fresh and vibrant score by William Finn, this bee is one unforgettable experience.
MAC Theatre Professor Chuck Gallaher said “Bee” is going to particularly appeal to audiences who crave the unscripted and unexpected.
“This play is probably going to be one of the best shows MAC will offer,” he said. “These actors are just killing it, playing kids facing off at a spelling bee, showing off all their personality quirks and reminding us what it was like to be that age. But of course, we’ll have some surprise entrants in the spelling bee, taken from the crowd. This is one performance no one will want to miss this year.”
The cast list includes:
Dillon Carl, Potosi as Chip Tolentino/ Dan Dad/ Olive’s Dad; Caitlyn Emert, Pilot Knob as Loganinne SchwartzandGrubenniere; Logan Willmore, Farmington as Leaf Coneybear/ Jesus/Carl Dad; Sam Gallaher, Farmington as William Barfee; Sasha Gann, Fredericktown as Marcy Park; Tiffany Everitt, Potosi as Olive Ostrovsky; Bailey Jackson, Potosi as Rona Lisa Perretti; Lucas Robinson, Park Hills as Vice Principal Panch; Shiloh Burt, Crystal City as Mitchelle Mahoney/Olive’s Mom.
For the Little Theatre Guild’s next performance, “The Tempest” which will be performed Feb. 16-18, auditions will take place Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre at MAC in Park Hills.
