Newlyweds soon find out how different their personalities and outlooks can be in the upcoming play performed by Mineral Area College Little Theatre Guild.
Neil Simon’s romantic comedy “Barefoot in the Park” will be performed by Mineral Area College Little Theatre Guild, 7:00 nightly, Oct. 3-5, at MAC’s Fine Arts Theatre on the community college campus in Park Hills. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for seniors and MAC students.
The play shows the course of four days in the lives of newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter, who have moved into Corie’s ideal for their first home, a Brownstone apartment on the top floor, five flights up. While button-down Paul was swept away by certain aspects of Corie’s happy-go-lucky, carefree personality, he finds his enchantment with her differing personality traits has its limit after all. Corie, equally disillusioned, urges Paul to become more “easygoing,” more willing to run barefoot in the park.
Little Theatre Guild’s cast list includes:
Shiloh Burt of De Soto as Corie Bratter; Lucas Robinson of Park Hills as Telephone Repairman; Ty Amsden of Centerville as Delivery Man; Joshua White of Farmington as Paul Bratter; Leslie Walter of Pacific as Corie’s Mother; and Michael Petete of Potosi as Victor Velasco.
Auditions for LTG’s next production will be at 2 p.m., Oct. 6, for , Dec. 4-7 “Lovers, Liars & Rock n’ Roll,” a comedic musical by former MAC Theatre Director Rick Giles. The cast includes four men and six women, and anyone interested should come to the MAC Fine Arts Theatre prepared with a one-minute vocal audition, bringing a karaoke disc or sheet music for accompaniment (no lead vocals). A short dance routine will be taught.
