Leadington - Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
The Leadington Police Department, in partnership with Pharmax Pharmacy, is hosting a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is a one-day event that aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
Leadington Police Chief, Dustin McKinney says “What we do is we take back old prescription medications people have that they don’t use anymore.” McKinney explained, “We send it to the Drug Enforcement Agency and they dispose of it instead of the person flushing it down the toilet, throwing it away or having it get in hands of someone else. We try to dispose of it in the correct way so it’s not out on the streets."Members of the Leadington Police Department will be in front of Pharmax Pharmacy in Leadington's Elizabeth Plaza from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There's no cost to dispose of your prescription medications, and no identification is required for drop-off -- participants remain completely anonymous.
