With the autumn fashion season beginning, and with holiday gift-giving on the horizon, Mineral Area Council on the Arts is sponsoring a how-to workshop by local artist Peggy Ropelle, who will show participants how to create their own "felted" scarves.
The Felted Scarf Workshop, presented by Mineral Area Council on the Arts and Peggy Ropelle, will take place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, in Mineral Area College’s North College Center on the Park Hills campus. The fee is $40 ($35 for MACOA season ticket holders), and registration is required. Material for the scarves will be provided, although some common, household items will need to be brought by each participant. Seating is limited. For more information or to register, call (573) 518-2125.
Arts Council Director Danielle Basler said the scarves are unique, beautiful, and well worth the investment of time to make.
"It’s amazing how creative people can be in making these gorgeous scarves," she said. "If you Google ‘nuno felted scarves,’ you’ll see some fabulous examples of the process and the results. And it’s great to have Peggy there to lead the way."
