St. Francois County Tire Cleanup
On September 28, 2013, there will be a County-Wide Tire Cleanup Event. The event will be held at the St. Francois County Transfer Station and is being sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources.
An environment free of scrap tires is important to the public health of all Missouri citizens. Scrap tires harbor mosquitoes, snakes and other vermin. West Nile virus, transmitted by mosquitoes, is a serious health threat. The removal of scrap tires in Missouri is a priority for the Solid Waste Management Program’s Scrap Tire Unit.
During the St. Francois County Tire Cleanup event, any citizen may bring tires to this event for disposal, free of charge.
Commercial use of the event for disposal is prohibited. For purposes of this program, "commercial" includes tire stores, trucking companies, farm implement dealers and the like. Basically any business that would replace tires in the normal course of their commerce.
If anyone has 50 plus tires on their property, please call Associate County Commissioner, Patrick Mullins, at 573-756-3623, extension 6 to arrange collection. You may also contact Commissioner Mullins via email at pmullins@sfcgov.org.
