Serenity HospiceCare is an independent, nonprofit hospice organization dedicated to providing compassionate care, comfort, and support to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses and the families who love them. Established in 1989, Serenity HospiceCare serves communities throughout St. Francois, Iron, Washington, Madison, Perry, Ste. Genevieve, Bollinger, and portions of Reynolds and Jefferson counties.

Serenity HospiceCare’s interdisciplinary team provides individualized care addressing each patient’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Patients may receive support from experienced nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains, music therapists, trained volunteers, and other end-of-life care specialists. A nurse and certified nursing assistant are assigned to each patient, helping families develop trusting relationships with a consistent care team.

Services include hospice care, supportive care, pain and symptom management, personal care assistance, nursing support, medical equipment and supplies, medication related to the terminal diagnosis, caregiver education, social services, spiritual care, music therapy, and veteran-focused services. Care may be provided in a private residence, assisted living community, nursing facility, or wherever the patient calls home.

Serenity HospiceCare also supports families before, during, and after the loss of a loved one. Bereavement services are available to hospice families for up to one year. Carter’s Clubhouse, Serenity’s nationally recognized childhood grief support program, provides free assistance to children navigating grief and loss.

As a spiritually based organization, Serenity HospiceCare respects each individual’s personal beliefs, experiences, preferences, and values. Care is available regardless of age, gender, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, financial circumstances, or ability to pay.

Because Serenity HospiceCare is locally governed and unaffiliated with a hospital system or out-of-state corporation, care decisions are made locally by professionals who live, work, and serve in the communities they support. The organization’s mission is to help every patient experience dignity, peace, comfort, and the highest possible quality of life while providing families with compassionate guidance throughout the journey.
