SONIC Drive-In Donates to LOCAL AREA SCHOOLS this Teacher Appreciation Month!

In May, SONIC donated $1.5 million to support local education across the country!

OKLAHOMA CITY (May 23, 2023) - In honor of May's Teacher Appreciation Month, SONIC Drive-In's SONIC Foundation donated $1.5 million to match all public contributions made to requests on DonorsChoose, a national nonprofit that allows individuals to donate directly to public school classroom requests submitted by teachers.

As part of SONIC's ongoing Limeades for Learning initiative, the $1.5 million donation matched 50 percent of each donation made to all teacher requests. SONIC helped fully fund nearly 15,300 projects from teachers and schools across the country.

The following are among the exceptional teachers who received funding:

* In Bonne Terre, Missouri, five exceptional teachers from one school received a combined donation of $435.00, including:

• Mrs. Smith at North County Primary School for the project "Meet Me on the Rug!" for Grades PreK-2

• Ms. Hootselle at North County Primary School for the project "The Odds and Ends of Kindergarten" for Grades PreK-2

• Ms. Smith at North County Primary School for the project "Glow Crazy" for Grades PreK-2

• Ms. Smith at North County Primary School for the project "Basic Supplies for Everyone!" for Grades PreK-2

• Ms. Weible at North County Primary School for the project "2nd Grade Classroom Kick Start" for Grades PreK-2

• Ms. White at North County Primary School for the project "Cozy Corner" for Grades PreK-2

* In Cadet, Missouri, five exceptional teachers from two schools received a combined donation of $615.00, including:

• Coach Hawn at Kingston Elementary School for the project "Letters on Bags!" for Grades PreK-2

• Mrs. Clark at Kingston Elementary School for the project "Back to the Basics" for Grades 3-5

• Mrs. Gann at Kingston Primary School for the project "Reading With a Purpose!" for Grades PreK-2

• Mrs. Gann at Kingston Primary School for the project "Recess Ready!" for Grades PreK-2

• Mrs. Miller at Kingston Primary School for the project "Lighting the Way Through Play" for Grades PreK-2

• Mrs. Miller at Kingston Primary School for the project "Swing Into Sensory" for Grades PreK-2

* In Desloge, Missouri, four exceptional teachers from two schools received a combined donation of $963.00, including:

• Ms. Fulton at North County Middle School for the project "Take a Break Somewhere Comfortable" for Grades 6-8

• Mrs. Mooney at North County Parkside Elementary School for the project "I Can Read At Home!" for Grades 3-5

• Mrs. Roseanna Chilton at North County Parkside Elementary School for the project "Generate Creativity!" for Grades 3-5

• Mrs. Wilfong at North County Parkside Elementary School for the project "Meeting Sensory Special Needs!" for Grades 3-5

* In Park Hills, Missouri, four exceptional teachers from three schools received a combined donation of $208.00, including:

• Ms. Kline at Central Middle School for the project "Citizen Science Equipment (Birds, Bees, and Benthic Biodiversity, oh my!)" for Grades 6-8

• Mrs. Williams at West County High School for the project "You Could 'Makey Makey' Our STEM Class So Happy!" for Grades 9-12

• Mrs. Bess at West Elementary School for the project "Send Up Supplies!" for Grades 3-5

• Mrs. Inman at West Elementary School for the project "Sweet Supplies!" for Grades 3-5
