Introducing Park Hills' New Parks & Recreation Director: Paul Johnson
It is with much excitement that we introduce you to the newest addition to our community leadership, Mr. Paul Johnson, who has taken the position of Parks & Recreation Director. Paul's journey to this position is a testament to his dedication, service, and deep-rooted passion for our beloved town.
Early Life and Service
Paul's story is one of commitment to both country and community. A proud graduate of Central High School in 1990, he then served in the Army for four honorable years. His military service instilled in him the values of discipline and duty, qualities that he would carry with him into his future endeavors.
Years of Dedication
Following his service to our country, Paul returned to Park Hills and began a career marked by unwavering dedication. For 18 years, he served as a Case Manager at the Department of Corrections, defining his commitment to helping others. Additionally, he spent a decade working at Central Schools as a Bus Driver and Custodian, creating strong bonds with our community's youth.
A Passion for Recreation
Before assuming his current role as Parks & Recreation Director, Paul was contracted with the City as the Sports Complex Manager. This experience provided invaluable insights into the inner workings of our city's recreational facilities and programs, offering a solid foundation for his current leadership.
A Family Man at Heart
Beyond his professional life, Paul is a devoted family man. Alongside his wife Kendra, they share a remarkable family of 13 children, which includes an astounding THREE SETS of twin boys, aged 3, 7, and 11, as well as eight grandchildren. His commitment to family reflects his desire to create a welcoming and nurturing environment within our community.
Pursuits Beyond the Office
In his cherished spare time, Paul indulges in passions that enrich community spirit. He enjoys umpiring and owns a Race Car that he loves racing at both the Doe Run and Pevely Raceways.
A Vision for Our Community
Paul's aspirations for the Parks & Recreation Department are ambitious and community-oriented. He aims to expand and enhance our sports programs, providing even more opportunities for our youth to engage in healthy and fulfilling activities. With the imminent opening of the new Aquatics Center, he envisions it as a focal point for community gatherings and engagement.
Furthermore, Paul is eagerly anticipating the Annual Christmas in Columbia Park light display, with planning already underway for this year's event. His dedication to our town's festivities extends throughout the year, as he recognizes the year-round potential of creating memorable community experiences.
