Godspell Coming to MAC April 29-May 1
Park Hills, MO – Mineral Area College Little Theatre Guild will perform Godspell Thursday, April 29-Saturday, May 1. Showtime is 7:00 p.m. each evening in the MAC Fine Arts Theater on the college’s Park Hills campus.
Tickets for the performances are $5 and are available at Eventbrite.com. Audiences should purchase their tickets in advance and can find a direct purchase link at www.mineralarea.edu/community/theatre. A limited number of seats will be sold to allow for social distancing, and masks are required of the audience members.
“We’re changing up things a little and will not have cash sales at the door,” said Chuck Gallaher, MAC Theater Director. “We’d like to make sure everyone knows that it’s easy to purchase your ticket in advance through our online ticket vendor, Eventbrite.com.”
The musical is based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew. In it, an ensemble cast employs a variety of strategies, including games, storytelling, and a good dose of comic relief, to tell parables. Audiences will be entertained by a variety of musical songs ranging from pop to vaudeville.
“This is the fourth time that the Little Theatre Guild has produced Godspell,” said Gallaher. “We’re excited to be bringing this musical favorite back to the stage as part of a celebration of 50 years of theatre at Mineral Area College.”
Chuck Gallaher is directing the show, Grace Miller is the choreographer, and Noelle Wagner is the costume designer. The cast includes:
Jesus—Logan Willmore; John/Judas—Chuck Gallaher; Brian—Brian Womble, Ian—Ian Miller, Michael—Michael Cantrell; Jen—Jen Stokes; Grace—Grace Miller, Sandra—Sandra Szendrey, Melody—Melody Francis, Kala—Kala Loughary; Disciple 1/Male Understudy—Syr Lyons; and Disciple 2/Female Understudy—Faith Smothers.
Sherry Francis will provide musical direction, and Isaac Hallock is directing the band, which includes:
Drums—Tyler Duncan; Guitar—Jake Cantrell; Bass—Connor Purkett; and Keyboard—Regina Brown-Vaughn.
The performance was initially scheduled to be performed in early April and had to be rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances. Ticketholders for the original dates have been notified and will receive tickets for the corresponding evening during the new dates. Any questions should be directed to the Theatre Department at 573-518-3808 or to Gallaher at (573) 518-2181.
