Central Schools Announce Extended Free Summer Meal Service Through December
In an email to parents on September 9, 2020, Central Schools Announced the following:
The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) extended summer meal service waivers through December 31st, 2020. Central R-III received the approval notification this morning to take part in the opportunity. This means we can serve all students through the summer food service program for free until the federal funding runs out, or December 31st, whichever comes first. The possibility does exist that federal funding will run out for this program first and, if so, the District will communicate that information and have to discontinue the service of providing all meals for free. We are extremely pleased to be able to offer this benefit to our students and families.
This program applies to both in-person and online students. As long as the funding is available, we intend to provide free breakfast and lunch, beginning today, to all students through December 18th, 2020, which is the end of the first semester.
We hope this assists families during these difficult times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you for your continued support of the District.
