Anyone who enjoys figuring out “whodunits” will want to take in Mineral Area College’s Little Theatre Guild next performance "The Game's Afoot" at the Park Hills campus.
Performances are at 7:00 p.m. nightly, June 19-21, in the Fine Arts Theatre at the Park Hills Campus. Tickets are available at the MAC Bookstore or at the door on the night of the performances, and are $7 general admission, or $3 for MAC students and senior citizens.
MAC Theatre Professor Chuck Gallaher said the comedic mystery is like an Agatha Christie novel set to a farce.
“This is one of our most elaborate sets yet,” he said. “And we’re using every available space on stage to give a performance as big as the script demands. It’s a face-paced, riveting plot that should have great appeal to anyone who finds they can’t look away from movies or TV shows filled with suspense.”
The action takes place around the holidays in December 1936, and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes. has invited his fellow cast-members to his Connecticut castle for the weekend. After one of the guests is stabbed to death, the revelry in the isolated weekend house turns dangerous. Gillette, as host, assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears.
