DESCRIPTION:Mineral Area College Foundation is teaming with Asymmetric Solutions in an unconventional fundraising effort. On Saturday\, March 28\, they will be hosting a 3-Stage Tactical Pistol Shooting Competition. The proceeds generated by the Shooting Competition will go directly to support the Mineral Area College Law Enforcement Academy.\n\n \n\nThe fundraiser's primary goal is to enhance the Law Enforcement Academy through the purchase of an Interactive Firearms Training Simulator\, as well as other training materials. The Firearms Training Simulator will be used by and seasoned officers who are seeking continuing education credit.\n\n \n\nThe contest will be held Saturday\, March 28\, 2015\, at Asymmetric Solutions\, 431 Thomas Rd.\, just south of Farmington. The recommended calibers for the contest are 9mm semi-automatic to .45\, with a round count of 60 needed for the competition. Entry is $50 for the general public and $25 for active/retired law enforcement or military. The contest is open to anyone 21 years of age and older. Entry slots are limited to 100 entries. Competitors will engage in a range brief at 8:30 a.m.\, followed by a 9 a.m. start time.\n\n \n\n"Everyone is welcome to join the event\," said Kevin Thurman\, who directs the college's foundation. "Spectators are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. In addition to the shooting competition\, there will also be a variety of vendor booths\, concessions\, and the opportunity to meet local celebrities. Asymmetric Solution's Grady Powell and Jared Ogden will be a part of the event. The two are part of the military team co-starring in the National Geographic flagship TV program\, Ultimate Survival Alaska."
