A positive mental attitude is essential to succeed in life and business. However\, a sober realization that "it could happen NOW\," is necessary to protect that positive state and preserve focus on goals and tasks.\n\n \n\nWe present a methodology for being aware without becoming paranoid or....just plain weird.\n\n \n\nLeft of Bang\n\n \n\nSituational Awareness training often adopts the language developed in the book Left of Bang\, developed by the Marine Corps Hunter Program to protect deployed Marines from ambush.\n\n \n\nStaying Left of Bang means recognizing anomalies in one's environment and taking decisive action to escape or avoid a potential threat.\n\n \n\nRather than become hyper-vigilant\, profiling every person and watching every nook and cranny\, a person learns to understand a general baseline for normal\, and instinctively pick up on clusters of anomalies that may indicate a potential threat.\n\n \n\nThe individual then mentally works through a short list of options (avoid\, contact\, or fight\, for example) and immediately takes appropriate action.\n\n\n\nPresentation Outline\n\n\n Mindset\n Building a Baseline\n How to Spot Anomalies\n Recognizing Clusters of Anomalies\n Rapid Decision-Making and Taking Action\n Potential Threats in the Professional Environment (in the field\, office\, or storefront)\n Video Examples from Security Camera Footage to mentally apply skills discussed\n Appropriate Everyday Carry Tools\n Short Overview of Missouri Self-Defense Law (drawn from Concealed Carry Course)\n For Further Training\n\n\n\n\nAbout Show Me Liberty:\n\n\nAndre and Angela Ong established Show Me Liberty\, a non-profit ministry in the state of Missouri\, to train and equip others with spiritual and physical preparedness.\n\n\n\nWe (Andre and Angela) served together as biblical counselors while planting The Bridge Community Church in Leadington\, MO. We have taught many classes and trained others for ministry over the years.\n\n\n\nToday\, we are certified by the NRA to instruct pistol\, rifle\, shotgun\, and range safety skills. Angela also leads the Parkland chapter of A Girl and a Gun\, a shooting league for women.\n\n\n\nWe continue to study and develop our own capabilities regularly as disciples\, protectors\, and instructors.\n\n\n\nWe bring together our counseling background\, military ministry\, and our role as firearms instructors.
