DESCRIPTION:To benefit Farmington food pantries\, a "Help the Hungry Benefit BBQ" will be held on Friday\, Nov. 14\, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Auffenberg Chevrolet in Farmington. Pre-orders which are encouraged-- are due Tuesday\, Nov. 11.\n\n\n\nThe barbecue is an additional fund-raiser to the annual Help the Hungry Bake Sale (scheduled 9 a.m.-1 p.m.\, Saturday\, Nov. 22\, at St. Joe Catholic School Gym on Ste. Genevieve Ave. in Farmington). St. Vincent DePaul and Ministerial Alliance food pantries will be given the proceeds from the bake sale and the barbecue.\n\n\n\nThe $5 bag lunches include a pulled pork sandwich or barbecue hamburger\, chips\, treat and a free drink for dine in\, carry-out\, or\, with 10 or more orders\, delivery is available. Pre-orders can be made by emailing aljohnso@socket.net or faxing orders to 756-9272. Tickets are also available from committee members\, or by calling 756-5485 or 760-7839.\n\n\n\nAlice Johnson\, who is organizing this year's barbecue and who helps with the annual Help the Hungry Bake Sale\, said the barbecue was such a success last year that the committee ran out of food before the event's end-time on the flyers.\n\n\n\n"I can't tell you how delighted we were with the results\," Johnson said. "We raised about $4\,500\, which can potentially feed 250 families for five weeks. Plus\, we're happy to raise awareness for the Help the Hungry Bake Sale\, which is always the Saturday before Thanksgiving."\n\n\n\nThe Help the Hungry Bake Sale is now in its ninth year\, and has grown from being a bake-sale and cooking-centered fund-raiser\, to an event featuring crafts\, holiday and home d cor\, themed baskets\, auction items\, a friendly competition between pastors and spirited\, holiday-themed performances.
