There is only one thing more important to the staff at Midwest Sports than motorcycles – kids!  That’s why they chose Carter’s Clubhouse to receive the proceeds from Spyderpalooza this year.

Midwest Sports held their annual Spyderpalooza September 13 through 15. Forty Spyders and their riders from all over the country were in attendance at the event, held in Farmington.  Attendees of the event enjoyed several planned rides, along with a comedy dinner theater, raffles, silent auctions, 50/50 and more.

The event netted more than $750 in proceeds, which were presented to Gayla Sisk, LCSW, the head of Carter’s Clubhouse.  Carter’s Clubhouse is a nationally-recognized, award-winning, free grief support group for children who are grieving the loss of a loved one.  Carter’s Clubhouse meets monthly, and involves children in activities designed to help them share their story and their healing journey with other kids who have had similar experiences.

For the second year in a row, Carter’s Clubhouse has taken 30 kids to camp at Trout Lodge for a three-day camp.  At the camp, kids have the opportunity to participate in group activities including tributes to their loved one, along with some fun activities and time to bond with others.  The camp is completely free to all the participants.

“Because we want the camp to remain available to all kids who need it most, we rely heavily on the generosity of businesses and individuals who support the camp financially,” says Gayla Sisk, Director of Social Work at Serenity HospiceCare, and the leader of Carter’s Clubhouse.  “Kids grieve very differently than adults.  Without the generous support of businesses like Midwest Sports, we wouldn’t be able to provide this service for them.”

Sherry Pratt, an employee of Midwest Sports, recently presented Sisk with a check representing the proceeds from Spyderpalooza, in support of Carter’s Clubhouse Annual Camp.  “Everyone had a great time at Spyderpalooza, and we also got to support a great program,” said Pratt.
